Pompey Away Day Guide: London Road (Peterborough United)

The Blues travel to London Road Stadium to face Peteborough United on Saturday afternoon still chasing their second away win of the season. For all those making the long trip, here’s all you’ll need to know……

Pre-match warm-up

Looking for a drink before kick-off? Look no further than the Cherry Tree! The Cherry Tree pub on Oundle Road is popular with away fans which is close to the ground and has a car park as well as money-off drinks if this used.

The Palmerston Arms is another away fan friendly pub around 100-yards further down Oundle Road.

Travel

For those driving up, you’ll need to leave the A1 at the junction with the A15. Take the A15 towards Peterborough, you will eventually come to London Road Stadium on your right.

There is no public parking at the stadium, however, there is a pay & display car park just off London Road (on your left as you pass the ground going towards the city centre). This costs £4.40 for four hours. Otherwise there is street parking to be found on side streets further up Oundle Road (A605). Make sure you check for any parking restriction signs on lampposts, as the side streets nearest to the ground operate a residents only parking scheme.

Peterborough station is only about a mile from the stadium, and the home side advise the following on how to get there. “Turn right out of station and head towards the main road (Bourges Boulevard). Turn right and head towards the big roundabout. Go under the Railway Bridge and walk up the path or steps to main road. Use the pedestrian underpass and pass the Evening Telegraph on the left-hand side. At the traffic lights, turn right and the ground is situated on the left hand side over the town bridge. There are of course plenty of taxi cabs available from the Railway Station if you don’t fancy the 10 minute walk.”

Half-time Refreshments

Food inside is pretty much your standard stuff. The Football Ground Guide says: “Food available inside the ground includes the standard fayre of; Cheeseburgers (£3.50), Burgers (£3.30), Hot Dogs (£3.30), Various Pies including Chicken Balti, Steak and Cheese & Onion (£2.80), Pasties (£2.80) and Jumbo Sausage Rolls (£2.80).”

Alcohol is available inside the ground as far as we’re aware, but unfortunately we’ve got no idea of what is on offer.

Programmes

The Posh’s match-day programme, London Road, is a recent award winning programme and can be purchased for a standard £3 with a summary of the home side, recent results, interviews and a look at our own boys. No doubt Dave Kitson will be labelled as a key man against for some silly reason!

Your Home For The Next Ninety Minutes

Pompey fans will be housed between two areas for away fans. Moyes Terrace and Block A of the Main (North) Stand will give Pompey fans the option of seats or a rare opportunity for standing in the terraces.

Leg room is quite tight if you’re opting for a seat, however, the stewards are very friendly and welcoming – unlike Cardiff’s!

It does have a few big pillars which could obstruct your view, but the benefit of standing is that you can move around easily. I’m sure we’re all used to pillars at Fratton Park anyway!

Tickets

Already around 1,000 tickets have been sold, and tickets are no longer available online or over the phone, however, tickets can be purchased from the Frogmore Road ticket office until 16:00 on Friday.

Fans wishing to get tickets after this can buy them on the turnstiles at London Road from 13:30 on matchday for the following prices:

Adult: £23 (£18 on terraces)

Concessions: £13 (includes students and seniors in both sections)

Juniors: £10 (Under-16s)

Finally…

Safe travelling to all fans heading up to Peterborough, and let’s bring back another three points!
